Werner Meckelnborg (Big Dutchman, left) and his colleagues Tobias Ideler and Johannes Hülsmann (far right) visited with a key, congratulatory messages and a gift basket. Moments later, Meckelnborg handed over the symbolic key to Yannick Henningsen and his partner – the new house is officially inaugurated.

A symbolic key recently changed hands in Hürup near Flensburg (northern Germany): staff from Big Dutchman presented it to Yannick Henningsen and his partner to mark the inauguration of their new poultry house for broiler production.

The house is designed for housing form level 2, which provides the birds with additional space according to German welfare standards, and equipped with modern technology from Big Dutchman. Solutions for feeding, water supply, climate control and house monitoring create the right conditions for efficient and responsible farm operations.

The technology at a glance

FLUXX330 feed pans with overflooding mechanism
Due to its patented 360-degree flooding mechanism, the tried-and-tested feed pan ensures a consistently high feed level during the first few days of rearing, sparing Henningsen and his team the need to distribute feed on chick paper.
EasyCheck mobile bird scale
The wireless scale records the birds’ weights easily and accurately and can be positioned flexibly in the house, enabling Henningsen to keep track of his birds’ weight development at all times.
3 x 40 m³ GRP feed silos with feed supply system, including feed weigher
The glass-fibre-reinforced silos are used to store and supply feed; a feed weigher records the feed quantities.
Frequency-controlled exhaust air system
The fans, which are all frequency-controlled, can be continuously adjusted to meet the ventilation requirements, ensuring an energy-efficient, precisely controlled indoor environment.
CL-3-1911 wall inlets
The inlets let fresh air enter the house via the sides of the building and help to distribute the air evenly in the bird area.
JetMaster DXC100 heaters with flue gas exhaust and additional circulation fans
Due to the heaters’ closed combustion chamber, the house air remains free of excess carbon dioxide and other harmful gases, which leave the building through a chimney. Additional circulation fans ensure that heat is distributed evenly throughout the house.
Spray cooling system
On hot days, this system cools the air in the broiler house by distributing fine water droplets. This helps to maintain a stable house climate during the summer months.
Aurora LED house lighting in the warm white/blue version
The LED lamp offers flexible control over light intensity and colour temperature, enabling lighting control that is tailored to the respective growing phase.
ViperTouch climate and production computer
ViperTouch controls fresh air, exhaust air, heating, heat exchanger, cooling, emergency opening and alarms, and thus acts as the central control unit for the entire house’s operations.
AC Touch alarm system
AC Touch monitors the technical equipment in the house and reliably alerts Henningsen and his team whenever action is required.
BFN Fusion: digital remote access
Using Big Dutchman’s digital farm management solution, Henningsen can view and control house data and equipment while on the move – a tool that makes the day-to-day farm operations noticeably easier.
