Much more space per bird, comfortable perches, bales of straw and a winter garden to romp about: 25,000 broilers recently tested and approved their new home, a barn in the German municipality of Seubersdorf in Bavaria. The birds are marketed under the Swiss animal welfare label “Donautal Premium”. Wanting to be able to provide his broilers with everything they need, farmer Christian Federhofer decided to use poultry equipment from Big Dutchman:

Earny 2: The heat exchanger is the second version of a successful system that was first introduced ten years ago. With Earny 2, broiler producers can save up to 60 % of energy whilst also meeting the birds’ needs for the ideal interior climate at all times. The modifications for the new version, which resulted from practical experience, are hardly visible from the outside, but make all the difference on the inside.
The heat exchanger’s aerodynamic properties were optimised, increasing the performance of Earny 2 by around 20 %. Maintenance of the heat exchanger, which was already nearly fully automatic, is now even easier. The Big Dutchman engineers also added helpful options such as a hot-water heater battery. This battery heats up the warmed fresh air even further on very cold winter days, increasing the birds’ comfort.
FluxX 360: The feed pan is well suited for both the rearing and growing of broilers. FluxX 360 has become one of the global Big Dutchman classics for good reason: the user-friendly spin-and-lock system for adjusting the feed level with just one hand and the patented 360-degree feed flooding mechanism ensure perfect conditions for production.
ViperTouch: The modular climate and production computer controls the entire broiler house. From exhaust air elements to the feeding system and the heat exchanger, poultry managers can tell this very competent and reliable “employee” to manage individual barns or even large farm complexes. The “eyes of the Lord” are still responsible for the results, however: in the end, it’s the farmer’s job to make sure his flock is performing as desired by checking on the birds daily.
ZeusLED: The LED ceiling lamp with DLG certification illuminates poultry houses evenly, has a wide optical spectrum from warm white to cool white and requires very little maintenance. Of course, it’s also the perfect solution for farmers who calculate down to the last penny. And last but not least: the ceiling lamp meets the special requirements birds have with regard to lighting in the barn, which has a positive effect on animal welfare.
