EuroTier 2026: Big Dutchman presents RollOver V – an innovation in pig production
Separating faeces and urine for up to 60% less ammonia in the pig house: new procedure is one of the best available techniques
Ammonia forms where faeces and urine meet. And this is exactly where RollOver V comes into play: the Big Dutchman innovation, a V-shaped underfloor manure scraper, separates the two substances directly in the slurry channel, preventing the degradation process that turns urea into ammonia. The result: up to 60% fewer ammonia emissions in nurseries and finishing houses. Big Dutchman shows the innovative product for the first time at EuroTier 2026.
The new procedure is one of the best available techniques (BAT) for reducing emissions in pig production. BAT is a term from European environmental law and applies to technology that reduces emissions most effectively while also being profitable in practice, i.e. techniques that work not only in the laboratory, but in actual livestock housing.
The moment of separation
RollOver V requires a V-shaped slurry channel with a slope of 10% in the base of the channel, and a central urine trough. The urine flows into this trough while the faeces remain in the slurry channel until they are transported out of the house by a cable-operated scraper. The scraper automatically lifts off from the base on its return trip so no faeces can move along.
Limit switches control the direction change and turn off the drive. A cleaning plate attached to the scraper cleans the urine trough every time the scraper is used. Depending on the length of the channel, the system runs up to twelve times per day.
