Anyone who keeps sows knows: group housing brings advantages – but also challenges. Especially when it comes to feeding. Some pigs eat faster, others slower. Some need more feed, others less. The new leaflet about CallBackproexplains how to solve this issue: with an electronic sow feeding system that brings together technology and practical experience. An essential component of the system are free-access stalls: they ensure that every sow can eat without being disturbed; other sows cannot reach the trough.

Housing pregnant sows in groups without feeding stress: CallBackpro shows how it’s done
The idea is simple: every sow is tagged with an RFID transponder. When a sow enters the stall, the system checks her feed entitlement. If the sow is entitled to receive feed, the hopper dispenses individual portions into the trough. The door behind the sow stays closed during this time: no jostling, no food envy.
The animals quickly understand the clear process behind this method. Up to 20 sows share one station. If you keep more sows, simply add more stations. Retrofitting existing houses is also no problem.
- Each sow is fed individually based on her needs.
- The system is operated via the 510pro controller, either in the house or from the comfort of the office.
- Thanks to BigFarmNet and the MySow app, the farmer can keep track of the sows, even while on the go.
- Extras such as colour marking, heat detection or water dosing can be added.
- Excellent value for money.
