With his iconic moustache, his rough edges and his typical North German manner, he was quite a character. And after more than 53 years of loyalty, he was the longest-serving Big Dutchman employee in Vechta-Calveslage. Franz Kuper has passed away at the age of 73.
Farewell to a real character
Big Dutchman institution Franz Kuper has passed away
The electrical engineering technician joined Big Dutchman in 1972. Back then, he wore long hair and cowboy boots. Right at the beginning of his Big Dutchman career, he worked as an assembly fitter in Libya and Kuwait on two of the first non-European construction sites.
There was a grumble and rumble to Franz Kuper that the entire staff liked. Because his rough exterior hid a heart of gold. And a good soul.
As manager of the service team, he left his mark on generations of colleagues. With a great deal of experience and passion, he supported and challenged them in equal measure. He had his team fly around the world. And always stayed grounded himself.
For decades, Franz Kuper operated Big Dutchman’s emergency hotline at the weekends. Anyone who had a problem reached him. And received help from him without fail. Whether the call came from a farmer around the corner or on the other side of the world.
