Big Dutchman is a strong supporter of the expansion of cage-free egg production in Asia. For this commitment, the poultry equipment supplier recently received a very special honour. Peter Leong, Area Sales Manager of the Egg business unit at the Big Dutchman Asia headquarters in Malaysia, accepted the “Excellent in Cage-Free System Development” award at an important industry meeting in Kuala Lumpur.

Animal welfare congress in Kuala Lumpur honours Big Dutchman commitment
Malaysia wants to accelerate the transition to cage-free egg production and thus promote bird welfare. To this end, the most important players met for a congress in Kuala Lumpur:
The meeting was organised by the animal welfare organisation Humane World for Animals and the Malaysia Cage-Free Egg Producers’ Organisation (MCFEPO).
According to Humane World for Animals, 84 % of Malaysians consider animal welfare important – and opt for cage-free eggs. Hotels, food store chains and retailers therefore demand more and more cage-free products.
One of the largest suppliers of cage-free eggs in Malaysia is Big Dutchman customer Liang Kee Farming. The company currently supplies 30,000 free range eggs per day under the brand name “Love Eggs”. The plan is to triple this figure to around 100,000 by 2026. Liang Kee Farming uses the Natura Step aviary system.
This example shows that Big Dutchman plays an important role in the conversion of egg production to more welfare-friendly systems.
