Honour to whom honour is due: Albanbek Ustabaev from Kyrgyzstan has been working for Big Dutchman for more than ten years. For his loyalty, he was recently honoured at the equipment supplier’s Central and Eastern European (CEE) Sales Meeting. The CEE colleagues get together approximately every three years to discuss their markets: they met in Prague in 2022, and this year in Düsseldorf, Germany. Albanbek is Big Dutchman’s sales representative in Kyrgyzstan, a Central Asian country bordering China.
“Germany stands for quality here – that’s why they trust us”
Albanbek Ustabaev: travelling the Silk Road for Big Dutchman
From his office in the capital Bishkek, he supports his customers in the entire area, from traditional family farms to large projects with one million layers. Bishkek was once a trading post along the Silk Road. Today, it is Ustabaev’s trading post for poultry houses.
Why do his customers buy from Big Dutchman? “Germany stands for quality here – that’s why they trust us”, says all-rounder Ustabaev. This year, he is supporting the assembly of four systems, while also taking care of spare parts deliveries.
Learning German in the barn
Ustabaev’s “German story” started with an internship at a feeder cattle farm in Upper Franconia, followed by a Master’s degree in Agricultural Management at Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences – and finally, Big Dutchman. Since 2012, he has been a permanent member of the team.
Spare parts deliveries, customer support or trade fair visits: Ustabaev keeps his market running.
It may be a long way to Kyrgyzstan – but thanks to digitalisation and a strong team spirit, Ustabaev, who speaks very good German, feels closely connected to his colleagues in Vechta-Calveslage. “I even have a telephone number with the Vechta area code. Some colleagues still think I’m just a few offices away,” he says, smiling.
