Big Dutchman has decided not to attend the International Poultry Exposition in Atlanta in 2006, but only in 2007. The Big Dutchman Inc. president, Clovis Rayzel, recently informed the IPE Board, agents and customers of the reasons for this decision in a letter whose contents are outlined below.
“After careful consideration and evaluation of recent participation, Big Dutchman has decided not to exhibit at the 2006 International Poultry Exposition in Atlanta. Having participated in this trade show since its beginning, this was not an easy decision to make. However, costs associated with taking part in the show steadily increase while the amount of business generated there has not kept a reasonable pace to make annual attendance realistic.
Big Dutchman has encouraged a transition to an every-other-year plan for future International Poultry Expositions. Industry trade shows in other areas of the world are moving to this type of schedule. Though that schedule has not yet been adopted by IPE, we will transition to that level of participation ourselves. Big Dutchman looks forward to attending the show in Atlanta in 2007. It is our understanding that many other companies in our line of business have made the same decision.
While our trade show participation will change, our commitment to the poultry industry will not. We remain committed members of the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association and look forward to continued involvement with them. Our participation in several regional poultry associations will also continue.
This change is not reflective of the condition of our business. Rather, it simply signals a change in approach which is consistent with Big Dutchman’s worldwide tradeshow participation. Please feel free to share your comments with us.”
