Big Dutchman’s new welfare product for laying hens, PickPuck, is especially innovative. This result from an independent jury was recently announced on the occasion of the 2017 SPACE, the leading French trade fair for modern animal production in Rennes. The jury awarded three Innov'SPACE stars for the new development of the German poultry equipment supplier for barn and free range egg production. Only exceptionally innovative novelties receive this many stars.
“This praise is an important recognition of our work! The award shows us that we are on the right track,” said Big Dutchman Area Sales Manager Frank Moormann during the awards ceremony. Well-known experts of different French technological and agricultural institutes as well as journalists from national trade magazines determined the winners.
PickPuck is an innovative pendulum that makes use of the hens’ natural behaviour of searching for feed and thus occupies them because it remains permanently interesting. The pendulum is available in the litter area 24 hours a day. Using this innovation permanently also wears down the layer’s beak and promotes their natural scratching behaviour.
PickPuck received two Innov'SPACE innovation stars even before the SPACE 2017 show started. During the show, the jury decides whether a product should also receive the additional special award.
