Big Dutchman, the internationally operating pig and poultry equipment supplier, strengthens its headquarters in Calveslage, Germany. A new, approximately 1,800 square metre large exhibition hall to display the Big Dutchman products will be added to the company premises directly at the federal highway B 69. Construction has already started with the demolition of an old storage building. The new building is expected to be completed in summer 2017.

Bernd Meerpohl, Chairman of the Board of Management of Big Dutchman AG, is looking forward to the attractive new construction: “With the new exhibition hall, we will finally have enough space to show our customers in an adequate manner our modern poultry and pig housing equipment and feeding systems for egg production, poultry growing and pig production, including the current trends of the industry with regard to environmental protection and animal welfare, systems for residue treatment and exhaust air treatment as well as Smart Farming. We will have an area that is twice as large as today to show our solutions.”

The new two-storey building complex will also contain two generous training rooms with up to 50 seats each and offices for around 60 employees. Additionally, a building that was previously used for storage and is located directly next to the new exhibition hall is currently being refurbished to become a test centre. With an area of 3,500 square metres, all product testing will then take place in the new test centre, instead of being distributed over different locations as before. The new Testing department will start working there as early as in August.

The investment volume for the entire project amounts to an approximate total of eight million euro. An architecture office from Vechta, Geising + Böker, designed the building. Sustainability is of course an important theme during construction: For example, a photovoltaic system from the Big Dutchman product portfolio has been installed on the roof and is already producing electricity for the headquarters.
