New tube system for liquid feed a true leap in quality
The longer the tube, the more important the mixing. This applies especially to tubes used to transport liquid feed to pigs. Big Dutchman can now present a tube system with an integrated spiral which – according to scientific evidence – transports the ideally mixed feed gruel to the trough with a quality as of yet unknown. This is an important factor for being successful in pig breeding and finishing.
Practical experience shows that on its way to the feeding place, recently mixed liquid feed often separates and forms deposits. This particularly happens in very long tubes and results in feed of different composition reaching the pigs. Tubes and valves are in danger of becoming clogged and hygiene problems are inevitable. The company Big Dutchman, in cooperation with the laboratory for fluid dynamics and turbomachinery of the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück, therefore developed a mixing tube which keeps pressure and mixture constant even over longer distances.
The ground-breaking characteristics of the Big Dutchman “TwinSpin” system are underlined by a recent analysis of the University of Applied Sciences. The double spiral tube system is head and shoulders above the previous Big Dutchman system and most of the products on the market. Its secret is the geometry of the two internal ridges, the so-called double spiral. This spiral is responsible for constantly mixing the gruel without tapering the tube. The result: optimum mixing and perfect hygiene.
“There was a lot of fiddling involved, but it was worth it in the end,” states Ralf Garberding, head of the Development department at Big Dutchman Pig Equipment GmbH. He knows that a hygienic portion of feed which can be measured accurately is an important factor for success. His conclusion: “TwinSpin is a true quality leap in liquid feeding.”
