HelixX exhaust air washer for pig houses
With HelixX, Big Dutchman will be showing the first officially certified local exhaust air treatment system for pig houses at EuroTier this year. It can be retrofitted easily and economically in existing pig production units. HelixX distinguishes itself through a high and stable separation rate of ammonia and total dust. This was recently confirmed by the strict Signum test carried out by the German Agricultural Society (DLG).
The DLG test results speak for themselves: the separation rate for total dust lies at approximately 87 %, the separation rate for ammonia at 86%. The Big Dutchman exhaust air washer also scored in terms of water consumption where it reached the first place among all tested exhaust air treatment systems.
Pig production units benefitting from innovative exhaust air washer
This makes HelixX especially interesting for pig producers in regions where permissions for farm expansions are only granted if a farmer is able to present an effective exhaust air treatment concept for his pig production unit. Traditional exhaust air washers with multiple cleaning stages can often only be operated efficiently if the entire exhaust air from a pig house is guided to one single spot. The air washer often has to be housed in a separate extension of the pig house.
Big Dutchman’s HelixX is a true alternative: it is very simple to integrate the local exhaust air washer in the already existing exhaust air removal systems. This means the pig producer does not have to invest in a new ventilation system and does not have to build an extra building for the exhaust air washer.
Exhaust air treatment: innovative yet simple technology for pig houses
The design of the system is relatively simple: HelixX basically consists of a nozzle holder installed on top of a water collection spiral. Water is sprayed on the exhaust air through the nozzles, thus binding dust and ammonia. The decentrally installed HelixX units are connected to each other and to a central water treatment station by means of a pipeline system.
Every HelixX operates independently. This way the operating costs, especially power costs for recirculation of the wash water, can be reduced to a minimum.
