Happy World Egg Day!
Of course Big Dutchman also celebrates the special day of the protein bomb – with many delicious egg dishes in our staff restaurant and half a dozen coloured eggs to go!
The egg is much better than its reputation. Eggs are a great source of vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, K and B2 as well as folic acid, calcium, phosphate and potassium, trace elements and proteins.
However, it is not just the substantial health benefits that make eggs a great food choice to support healthy diets:
- have notable sustainability credentials to making them a great choice to feed the growing global population;
- are considered a low environmental impact protein source owing to new efficiencies and ongoing commitments made both on-farm and in the egg supply chain;
- require very little water use;
- the overall footprint of the egg has significantly reduced over the last 50 years.
